Free Bee Disease Testing

We encourage our members to register their bees with the state for inspection purposes.  Follow the link below for more info:

http://www.pastatebeekeepers.org/

The USDA offers free testing of honey bees to determine if the bees had any diseases when they died. Here is a link to a page describing the program (if you click the link at the bottom of this page it will take you to another page that describes how to submit samples to be tested).

Additionally, Penn State offers a paid service (currently costs $134 to run the screen) to test honey bees for exposure to pesticides. This type of testing can also be used to check pesticide levels in honey and wax. Download Instructions__for_submitting_samples-for-pesticide-analysis-2010 and information on Pesticide testing by clicking these links.
